Tufts Facilities Services and Office of Sustainability seek a student to coordinate the University’s specialty recycling streams, such as plastic film and textiles, and assist in managing waste reduction programming during Move Out.
This position is perfect for someone interested in recycling and waste diversion, education, outreach, team building, collaboration, and event management. This intern will hone efficient customer relations, peer leadership, logistics experience, planning, outreach, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities will be split between collecting waste streams (50%), office work and data recording (25%), and move out planning (25%) Applicants must be willing and able to walk around campus to collect materials, data, and ensure collection locations are up to standard. This position will report to the Supervisor for Waste Reduction & Recycling and will work with both Facilities and the Office of Sustainability.
This is a semester long position with the opportunity for continuation through the summer and future semesters. Commitment is 8-10 hours a week until May when hours will increase to between 10 & 25 hours. Chosen candidate must be available to assist throughout exams and undergraduate move out, on Sunday May 21st for Commencement, and on Monday May 22nd for Senior Move Out.
Must also be flexible and able to work outside of the regular 9 AM – 5 PM business hours. The chosen and candidate and supervisor will work together to find a schedule that works for everyone.
The nature of the position requires in-person work on the Medford/Somerville campus with an occasional opportunity for remote work.
