Interested in trying Bluebikes for your commute? You’re in luck! Any employee or student at Tufts University is now eligible for a nearly 50% discount on an annual Bluebikes membership through the Tufts Corporate Bluebikes Program. A normally $109 annual membership will now cost just $60/year. With this membership, all rides under 45 minutes are free.
What is Bluebikes? Bluebikes is a bike share program available in Somerville, Cambridge, Boston, Brookline, and Everett. There are more than 3,000 bicycles at over 300 stations throughout the Boston area. Single trip, 24-hour, monthly, and annual passes are available. Learn more by visiting their website.
Download the Bluebikes mobile app to find bikes and docking stations across Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Newton, Revere, Somerville, and Watertown.
You can keep your bike for up to 45 minutes before docking it at another Bluebikes station, and the ride is free. If you keep the bike longer than 45 minutes at a time, it’s an extra $2.50 per additional 30 minutes.
Make sure to always wear a helmet while you ride! More info on places to purchase your helmet. JRA Cycles in Medford gives a 10% discount on helmets, accessories, and wearable items for all Tufts students, staff, and faculty with a valid Tufts ID.
There are no Bluebikes available in the Grafton area, but perhaps you are interested in getting the membership if you live in the Boston area. Employees can click the “Medford/Somerville employees” button above, and students can go through the “Students on ALL Campuses” button.
