The high temperatures of July make it a very energy intensive month. The Joyce Cummings Center is beating the heat with its energy efficient features. The building was constructed with a low energy-use target in mind which is supported by numerous sustainability features. Some of these features include a heat recovery chiller, a rooftop solar array, triple glazing on windows for temperature control, use of natural light, and occupancy sensors. As the most efficient building on the Medford/Somerville campus, the Joyce Cummings Center is a great step towards Tufts reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
