Meet the Sustainable CORE Fellows - Office of Sustainability

Sierra (she/her) is a junior from Edmonds, WA majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Food Systems & Nutrition. She's passionate about environmental justice, environmental policy, and making the world more sustainable. In her free time, she's the Co-President of Cheese Club, on the e-board of Philippine Student Union, and a certified gym rat.

Brianna Arce (she/her) is a sophomore from Honolulu,HI interested in studying Biopsychology, Environmental Studies, and Child Studies/Human Development. More of her interests lie in environmental education, food systems, and public health, to name a few. Brianna enjoys adventuring outdoors, being active, and spending quality time with friends. As a CORE Fellow, she is excited to collaborate with her peers on projects and looks forward to building a more sustainable community on campus.

Isaac (he/him) is a junior from Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica majoring in Environmental Health. He is mainly interested in topics such as environmental justice, carbon emissions reduction, and the connection of sustainability and public health. In his free time he likes to hang out with friends and loves going to the beach. As a fellow he is looking forward to help other students to lead a more sustainable life on campus.

Ella (she/her) is a sophomore from right outside of Philly, PA majoring in Biology. She is very interested in environmental justice and sustainability. On the weekends, you'll find her on walks around campus, reading on the lawn, or studying in Ginn purely for the vibes! As a CORE Fellow, she is excited to engage with the student community and help cultivate a more environmentally conscious campus.

Camille (she/her) is a junior from Boxborough, MA majoring in Applied Environmental Studies with a focus on Sustainability, Policy, and Equity. She is particularly interested in youth environmental engagement and marine sciences. Outside of academics, she's a lover of cats, big fan of crochet, and avid podcast listener.

Maya (she/her) is a junior from Natick, MA who’s majoring in Environmental Studies (food systems track) and Spanish Cultural Studies. She’s passionate about food sovereignty and loves plants even more than she loves thrifting, which is saying something. Stop by and say hi during one of her shifts at the Sink!

Luca (he/him) is a junior majoring in Architectural Studies and Environmental Science. He's been an Eco Rep for the past two semesters and is thrilled to continue working under the new CORE Fellows program. In his free time, Luca can be found tending to his plants, feeding his fish, cooking, drawing, swimming or diving in the Tufts pool, and running through thought loops. His passion for sustainability is rooted in the natural and built environments, and he's interested in pursuing landscape architecture to engage in the environmental sphere in the future.

David Rivas (he/him) is a junior studying Political Science and minoring in Film and Media Studies. He has a passion for politics, movies, and helping others in whatever way he can. He also appreciates having conversations about almost anything. He is originally from Honduras and is excited to be a CORE Fellow this semester and promote sustainable efforts in the Tufts community, but also outside campus.

Elena Manson (she/her) is a sophomore from Xalapa, Mexico majoring in applied Environmental Studies and Civic Studies. In her free time, she loves doing yoga, gardening, spending time with her friends, meeting new people, reading, laying in the sun, traveling to new places and listening to 70's and 80’s music. This year, she is looking forward to fostering a culture of sustainability on campus, involving new groups in the conversation and focusing on environmental justice in our community.

Paul Wang (he/him) is a second year from Cary, North Carolina planning on majoring in computer engineering major and minoring in environmental studies. He passionate for nature, and building a sustainable solutions in our community. In his free time, he likes to play tennis, cook, or spend time with friends. As a CORE fellow, he is excited to make sustainability fun and exciting for everyone on campus.

Alice Wall (she/her) is a rising sophomore, majoring in Applied Environmental Studies on the Environmental Science track. She is passionate about sustainability, with a particular interest in aquatic ecosystems. In her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, paddle boarding, biking, and hanging out with her dogs.

Emma Roca (she/her) is a sophomore from London studying Environmental studies and IR. Her passion for socio-environmental justice has been a drive throughout her life. She is specifically interested in ecofeminist perspectives in policy making and how to build resilience in communities as they face climate change. She loves experiencing new cultures, photography, and playing drums with her band. Emma is also fond of people who love what she loves, so she is thrilled to be a part of the Sustainable CORE Fellow.

Avril Lynch (she/her) is a fifth-year student from Arlington, MA in the Combined Degree program pursuing a BA in Applied Environmental Studies and a BFA in Studio Art. She's passionate about climate resiliency and environmental communication. In the past, Avril has worked with organizations like Mass Audubon and the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management to spread awareness about how climate change affects native species and water quality. In her free time she likes to make jewelry, cook, and draw illustrations for the Tufts Daily and Observer.

Maya Learner (she/her) is a sophomore from Montclair, New Jersey studying Applied Environmental Studies and Asian American Studies. She is particularly interested in the intersection between the two, and focuses especially on environmental justice and policy. In her free time, you can find her reading, listening to records, cooking Korean food, and writing. Maya is very excited to be a part of the Sustainable CORE Fellows program this fall!

Zayyan Abbas (he/him)is a sophomore in the Arts & Sciences school who is planning on pursuing a degree in Applied Environmental Studies. He is incredibly passionate about environmental justice, food sovereignty and mitigating the effects of climate change. As a Bangladeshi, he firmly believes in the urgency of the climate crisis, and has seen it grow more and more threatening in his lifetime. He believes strongly in the importance of grassroots movements in addressing climate change, and has previously worked on fossil fuel divestment campaigns at his school. In his free time he enjoys crocheting, reading and watching Batman movies.

Madeline Nock (She/her)is a rising sophomore from Cleveland, Ohio, planning on studying Economics and Environmental Studies. Her main interest is environmental justice in urban planning and international development. In her free time, Madeline loves to play tennis, play the piano, go on bike rides, and talk about how much she loves Cleveland!
