The Office of Sustainability manages two Special Interest Houses that bring together students with similar sustainability interests to help build an inclusive environmental community on campus.

The goal of these houses are to create a space which:

  • Brings people with similar interests together in a living environment
  • Provides an opportunity for residents to learn new ways to live sustainably alongside their housemates
  • Fosters the environmental community on campus
  • Encourages cooperation between the various environmentally focused groups on campus

 

About The Hive

This sustainability-themed, 6-person suite is located in Hillside Apartments. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are all invited to live in The Hive. As a special interest house, The Hive's goal is to create a community of students interested in sustainable living and issues surrounding sustainability.

The Green House

About the Green House

The Green House is part of CoHo (Tufts' Community Houses) and is a house on 12 Bellevue Ave. with single bedrooms for juniors and seniors that want to live in a sustainable community. The house was built with sustainability in mind. It is well-insulated, has low-flow water plumbing fixtures, and has solar panels on the roof, among its many sustainable features.
