Tufts Posts 981 miles for 2012 MassCommute Bicycle Challenge

The Office of Sustainability would like to thank all 35 individuals who took part in the Bay State Bike Week Mass Commute Bicycle Challenge last week! Tufts finished with 981 miles as a team (including 53 miles from the Medical Center in Boston).

The MassCommute Bicycle Challenge, hosted by  MassCommute, is the signature state-wide bicycle commuting event of Bay State Bike Week. Anyone who lives, works or attends school in Massachusetts can participate. 2012 massbike shirt

Congratulations to Alice Miller from the Biology Department for posting the most number of commuting miles for the Bike Challenge! She won a 2012 Mass Commute “Bike Curious?” shirt.

Walk RideAlso, every last Friday of the month is the Green Streets Initiative’s Walk/Ride Day – go car-free, check in your commute, and help Tufts win the inaugural Walk/Ride Corporate Challenge!

Beginning March 30 until September 28, help create safe, healthier and more vibrant streets and communities by greening your commute.  Biking, walking, public transit, telecommuting and carpooling all count! Check in each Walk/Ride Day (the last Friday of every month). All participants will also be entered into a raffle to win cool prizes so plan your green commute now!
